I am so sick of seeing the “she is a virgin” and “she is not a virgin” secrets but this one pissed me off to no end. If you practice safe sex, you are less likely to get pregnant. If you use birth control (any form) and condoms, you have a slim chance of getting pregnant. Also, if you do get pregnant you don’t have to remain pregnant. One could get an abortion if they have an unwanted pregnancy.
What really pissed me off about this post, minus the clear lack of understanding of contraception, is that is fucking states Taylor needs to be a virgin for her fans. She has to not get pregnant for her fans. She can do whatever the fuck she wants. Whether it is having sex, getting pregnant, having an abortion, etc. The fact it says she is smart for “not having sex” shows how the secret maker views women who have sex. It implies women who have sex are dumb. Which is just sexist as fuck and fucked up. It implies women should not have a sexuality because they might get pregnant.
It is sickening how her fans want to control her sexuality or have any say in her sexuality. I get that they do this to all women in the media, whether they have a “good girl” image or are seen as a slut. Her sexuality is not seen as hers but seen as everyone elses. It is sickening how much her fans are obsessed with her sexuality and whether or not she is a virgin. Peoples obsession with her sexuality is an example of how society is obsessed with women’s sexuality as a whole. Granted, society only views good white girls as being able to be virgins and there is race, class, and gender politics at play as to why people are so fucking obsessed with her being a virgin. It is fucked up and sickening.
What’s even more sickening is the leading in this graphic.
